After its message of unity, development and peace was successfully taken to Bishnupur, Thoubal and Imphal East districts and some hill areas, the 4th phase of UNIDEP Campaign was launched today at Maklang of Imphal West district.
The Campaign being organised by the UNIDEP Committee constituted by AMUCO, AMESCO, AMAWOVA, MEPWAK, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur and other social organisations will be taken to the hill districts after the fourth phase in Imphal West district.
During the fourth phase, public meetings will be organised at Ishok, Lamsang and Sekmai Maklang.
The first phase of the year long UNIDEP Campaign was kicked off in November last year.
Today's Campaign meeting was addressed by Guest Faculty Member of MU Dr Dhanabir Laishram, advisor of AMAWOVA S Leirangtombi, editor of the Orient Vision S Bhubon, Assit Prof MU Chinglen Maisnam and president of NRC S Sunilkanta.
Speaking on the occasion, AMUCO advisor Th Iboyaima lamented that at a historical point of time a deep sense of distrust among the ethnic groups of the State resulting from adoption of alien religions.

In addition, the merger of Manipur into Indian Union resulted in complete disappearance of unity among the indigenous ethnic groups.
Iboyaima further dismissed the notion of constructing roads and building multi-storeyed buildings as development.
The AMUCO do not subscribe to the concept of establishing peace after exterminating adversaries as espoused in Hindu epics like the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, he stated.
What AMUCO cherish and yearn for is that peace which come on its own after restoring mutual love and unity among all sections of the people, he noted.
This is the exact objective of the UNIDEP Campaign, Iboyaima added.
Today's gathering was presided by AMUCO president R Yangsosong Koireng, AMUCO advisor Th Iboyaima, president of Poirei Leimarol L Memchoubi, secretary of Longa Koireng Village Authority Rungchuchen Koireng, chief of Thangjing Chiru N Chungneiwon and other public leaders.
