Police refuse to lodge complaint

With Sugnu Police refusing to take a written complaint against the reported assault on three women and a 62 year old one by one Angom Sobha of Wangoo Tera and his cohorts, the victims have decided to take the case to the Manipur State Commission for Women.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, representatives of the Women Development Society Sandangkhong and the Sandangkhong Mayai Leikai Eleven Star Youth Club strongly condemned the assault on the three women by Angom Sobha and his cohorts at about 7.30 pm of February 27 .
The two local bodies also decried the refusal of Sugnu Police to receive their written complaint against the assault.
They asserted that the police have been encouraging violence against women by refusing to take the written complaint.
The matter would be taken to the Manipur State Commission for Women so that the guilty persons are punished according to law, they said.
