Imphal, March 23:
A three day long IT Expo organised by the All Manipur Information Technology Organisation (AMITO) was opened today at Nupi Lan complex by the Minister of Agriculture Ph Parijat as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Ph Parijat observed the inevitability of information technology in the modern age, its significance in the economic development of a country and its influence in determining economic growth of a State.
Noting the advancement made by developed countries in the field of IT, he asserted this it is because of the great strides made in IT sector in recent years that the world is shrinking day by day to the level of a small village.
Exuding confidence that the problem of unemployment can be mitigated to a certain level if the youths of the State can take advantage of the growing information technology, Parijat remarked that the IT Expo would be successful in exposing the immense potential and benefits of IT to the educated youths.
He further assured that such IT expo would be organised in a more complete and grander manner next year for which he would urge the State Government to extend all possible help.
Besides various computer hardwares, consumable items like printer etc are being put on display in the Expo.
The basic objective of the Expo is to demonstrate the difference between the old and new computer technologies, said AMITO vice-president Arun Laishram.
Altogether 20 stalls including 4 belonging to firms based outside the State such as LG and Cannon are taking part in the IT Expo.
Free servicing facility would be provided during the Expo, informed the organisers.
