Imphal, March 14:
A week-long training programme on home scale fruit and vegetable preservation for self help group members organized by NCUI, women cooperative project, Imphal east concluded on March 12 at Khurai Konsam Leikai.
All the sessions were taken over by the resource persons from the community food and nutrition extension unit, deptt of women and child development, government of India.
Kh Borkeshor Singh, chairman ICM-Imphal inaugurated the programme.
Sotin Kumar, local leader, N Devarani Devi, project officer, H Greehabala Devi, demonstration officer of collaborating extension unit were also present.
Altogether 30 self help group members participated in the programme.
Inaugurating the programme Kh Borkeshor highlighted the role of women in the field of socio-economic development and inculcates the habit of thrift and savings from their source of earning possibilities.
In his speech, SC Borah, Principal ICM Imphal called upon the participants of the training to earn the knowledge and utilize the same as tool for their socio-economic development plans.
He appreciated the different activities of NCUI, Women cooperative education project taken up in different areas of Imphal east and also congratulated the collaborating agencies also for their kind and full support for taking up such initiative for the womenfolk of the rural areas.
The said training includes both, theory and practical sessions.
By large, the deliberations, demonstrations and practical during training programme had given a new light to the self help group members in the field of health and nutrition education, personal hygiene, environmental sanitation and processing of various seasonal fruits and vegetables for income generation of SHG members.
