Flood washes away rice fields

Vast tract of Paddy fields in Ukhrul district headquarters have been submerged in flood water following incessant rainfall over the last two-three days.
According to the report, over 50 paddy fields belonging to different owners have been totally washed away in the overflowing water from river at Faling Chihui upto Kahonglengcheng Lui, which is around 15 km in the intervening nights of September 24 and 25 .
A media team which have conducted a tour of the flood affected area came across that vast tract of Paddy fields have been washed away in the flood.
The area from Faling Chihui to Kahonglengcheng Lui in the district headquarters is considered to be the key producer of rice in Ukhrul district.
While interacting with the media team, the affected farmers informed that 20 paddy fields and 10 dams under Faling Chihui areas (Luisai), 13 paddy field and 10 dams under Kasom Kong, 3 paddy fields and 3 dams under Lencheng, one paddy field, etc have been completely washed away in the flood water overflowing from the river.
