The Kuki Movement for Human Rights, in a representation submitted to the Chief Minister, informed that the timely actions by the Moreh ADC and Chandel DC have resulted in the return of over 497 displaced persons from Myanmar after their alleged abduction.
Informing that the displaced villagers are being sheltered at Moreh, it said that KMHR together with some other NGOs have visited the spot on March 24 and confirmed the reports about the abduction of the villagers.
Seeking immediate attention of the State Govt to provide shelter and food to the displaced villagers taking refuge at Moreh, KMHR maintained that about 100 villagers are yet to be rescued and brought to India.
The matter can no longer be kept concealed as the incident has already been broadcast world wide through BBC, remarked KMHR while urging the Government for prompt action.
In a similar memorandum to the Chief Minister, the Hill Tribal Council (HTC), Moreh appealed for relief materials including foods, clothes and tarpaulin for the displaced villagers taking shelter at Moreh.
The HTC also conveyed gratitude to the district administration for its timely action to bring back the displaced villagers from Myanmar.
Meanwhile, the KSO Ghqs, in an emergency meeting held today at Imphal, has strongly condemned the prolonged detention of Kuki students by Delhi police in connection with the rally taken out at New Delhi on March 23, conveyed a release issued by KSO.
It asserted that the rally was organised seeking justice for the alleged 400 abducted villagers, rape victims of Parbung and landmine victims of Khengjoi and Samtal area.
Urging for intervention of the State Government to affect release of the Students being detained by Delhi police, the KSO warned that any delay in releasing the students would result in dire consequences for which the State Government and the UPA Government at the centre will be held responsible.
On the other hand, the KSO conveyed its gratitude to all the supporters who came out to help KSO in its just cause.
