Imphal, July 24:
Acting on specific information of movement of militants along the border area, troops of 18 Assam Rifles laid an ambush near the international boundary at Myanmar on July 23, said the AR PRO in a statement.
The troops observed the movements of militants and an exchange of gun fire ensued.
One M-16 rifles with one magazine and three rounds, one Carbine US made along with one magazine and four rounds and one pouch were recovered from the site, claimed the PRO.
In another incident, troops of JKLI exchanged gun fire with militants at Phaisenjang on July 22.The troops recovered seven detonators, 17 pressure switches one battery 12 V and one multimeter.
