Imphal, August 22:
All the works related to administration of Sadar Hills area have been seriously affected following the closure of the Government offices including ADC Kangpokpi and other financial institutions by the Sadar Hills District Demand Committee (SHDDC) in connection with its demand for upgrading Sadar Hills into a full-fledged revenue district.
With the SHDDC-sponsored agitation entering the third day today and all the Government offices and financial institutions remaining bolted, employees have to return from the gates of their offices.
As a consequence, the administration work of the area has been paralysed.
With no possibility of attending to their official duties, most of the employees posted in the area have also gone back to their respective places.
The State Government has been deploying adequate forces to prevent any untoward incidents.
But apart from keeping watch over the office buildings, the security personnel could do nothing in ensuring smooth functioning of the offices in the prevailing situation.
Talking to The Sangai Express, information secretary of Sadar Hills District Demand Committee Roingam said even if the picketing of the Government offices has been launched since August 20, so far the Government has not given any response to the demand of the Committee.
Picketing of the Government offices would continue till August 26, he informed.
As part of the ongoing agitation, the Committee would start targeting the educational institutions in Sadar Hills area including private schools and colleges with effect from tomorrow and it would continue till August 25, he informed.
