Imphal, April 22 2011:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (I) vice president Sagolsem Achouba has claimed that former Chief Minister W Nipamacha Singh has applied for re-entry to the Congress party inspite of going on record to work for the defeat of the national political organisation.
Interacting with some newspersons today Achouba dismissed as unfounded and flimsy Nipamacha's assertion that he was approached to rejoin the Congress party.
Expressing that the Congress party has no qualm on whom the former CM wishes to support when the next assembly elections are held, the MPCC vice president cautioned Nipamacha that his irresponsible comments against the Congress organisation at public platform is bound to backfire for knowledge of the masses on the State's prevailing political situation cannot be taken for granted.
further maintaining that on November 12, 2009 Nipamacha had formally applied to return to the Congress fold after parting ways with the BJP, he said Congress leaders not entertaining the former CM's intimation was on the ground that Nipamacha lacked political integrity due to his association with various political organisations in between 1972 and 2009 .
Prior to the media briefing, Achouba handed over old age pension of six months to the elderly persons of Wangoi AC at the office of Wangoi Youth Congress Committee.
While informing that the Pension beneficiaries were individuals selected under a specific scheme of the Social Welfare Development, he also assured that all possible means at his disposal would be utilised to extend similar benefits under the MOBC department within a week's time.
