Ukhrul's response to devt seminar mixed

In a significant development a day-long development seminar was held at Town Hall Phungreitang here, today.
The seminar was organised under the joint aegis of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Ministry of DONER.
The State Government and the NEC sponsored the seminar.
Union Home Secretary, Government of India, GK Pillai (IAS) who is currently on a four day visit to the State graced the function as chief guest.
He arrived here on October 17 along with a team of high ranking Government officials, including the Secretary of DoNER and Joint Secretary of the NEC.
While Ministry of DoNER Secretary, Government of India Ms Jayati Chandra (IAS) was the guest of honour, the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul N Ashok Kumar (IAS) presided the function.
Speaking at the occasion, Pillai stated that development could not take place unless there is peace and peaceful settlement in any case.
He observed that giving respect, honour and dignity to each other is the prime wisdom that all should acknowledge.
On Indo-Naga peace talks, the Union Home Secretary said, "Ato Kilonser, Th Muivah's presence is very much required in order to bring a lasting solution and that I wish him the best of health to keep on with the Indo-Naga peace talks till the final solution can be hammered out in an amicable solution" .
In the field of development, the Union Secretary and Secretary of DoNER noted down all the feasible issues and considered some development works like inclusion of Huining village in the upcoming new road construction, repairing of New Heaven to Lamlang Gate road (old road) via Hungpung, which was proposed by the work commissioner of State, Ram Muivah.
The DC Ukhrul in his presentation on development programme highlighted the details of report on flagship programme which has been implemented since few years back in the district.
The day-long seminar which touched the areas of almost all the departments in the district has a positive outcome with the visiting Union Secretary and Secretary of DoNER assuring the participants to maximum efforts for necessary implementation.
Following the seminar, the visiting team visited the 50-bedded new hospital building construction at Naga Gate Hungpung and Ukhrul district hospital (UDH) .
The Union Secretary inspected the child and maternity ward, gynea ward, operation theatre, lab etc and even interacted with the patients parties at the hospital and noted all their grievances.
Besides unearthing many store rooms of the lone district hospital in an unhygienic ways and medicines found to be in a contaminated form, some expired medicines were also found by the Union Secretary while inspecting the condition of the hospital.
