Dimapur, February 16, 2010:
Although Union Home Secretary G K Pillai had said recently that NSCN-IM leader Thuigaleng Muivah would be in India sometimes in the month April to resume the talks, the NSCN-IM authority said today that there is no certainty in this regard.
New 'kilonser' or minister of the NSCN-IM's 'ministry of information and publicity' (MIP) AZ Jami informed Newmai News Network tonight things are yet to be finalised and as of now there is no such plan of the outfit's top leader Th.Muivah coming to India.
It is pertinent to note that it has been almost a year now that the talks between the NSCN-IM and the government of India.
The last round of talks betwen the two parties was held in March, 2009 in Zurich, Switzerland and that talks outcome was seen in a stalemate.
The NSCN (I-M) had earlier submitted a 29-point proposal to the Centre to hammer out a solution to the Naga political problem.
It is also note worthy that Union Home secretary G.K Pillai had informed media persons in Guwahati on February 9 that NSCN-IM leader Thuigaleng Muivah would come to India in the month of April to discuss the counter proposals with New Delhi.
The NSCN-IM had turned down an invitation from New Delhi few months ago for holding the next round of talks on the ground that the missive came from the Union Home Ministry.
The NSCN-IM said that as per the agreement the invitation should come from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
After the 'emissary' system was done away, the talks between the two parties had not been held.
The last New Delhi emissary in the matter was K Padmanabhaiah, a retired bureaucrat.
