Like past years, All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) will observe this year's Realisation Day on April 17.AMSU has been observing the day since 1981 remembering the death of two of its volunteers in security forces action during an agitation staged against the influx of outsiders (non-Manipuris) .
Speaking to reporters in a press conference conducted in its headquarters today, AMSU vice-president Kh Khaba urged the general public to shun all forms of entertaining programmes on the day to mark respect to the soul of the students who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the State.
Khamba further said that people will pay floral tributes at the students' memorial at Pishum Chingamacha in the morning which will be followed by a peace public rally from Pishum to DM College of Arts ground, where a public meeting will be held in connection with the observance.
MLA K Meghachandra, AMSU president Irengbam Jamesbond Mangang, DESAM president LC Santosh and ATSUM president Thomas Taishya will be the chief guest, president and guest of honours respectively of the said meeting.
Khamba also urged the general public especially the students community to take part in the observance.
