Tata Sumo torched at Thamnapokpi along Imphal-Moreh Road

Suspected supporters of the UNCsponsored counter blockade set on fire a Tata Sumo near Thamnapokpi along Imphal-Moreh Road last night.
The ill-fated Tata Sumo bearing registration no.MN-06L/2740 was coming from Moreh carrying Onions, Apples and Lemons when suspected counter blockade supporters intercepted it near Thamnapokpi at around 11.30 pm yesterday and set it on fire after directing the driver and the handyman to get down.
With exception to the engine, the entire body of the Tata Sumo and the content have been destroyed in the fire beyond redemption.
Estimated lost of the goods being carried in the fire is said to be around Rs 3 lakh.
The Tata Sumo was being driven by one Khumukcham Nimai of Kakching Khunou but staying at Uripok when the incident occurred.
It may be recalled here that suspected supporters of the UNC-sponsored counter blockade have earlier set on fire five goods laden trucks at Phangrei in Ukhrul district.
Before that many Imphal-bound goods laden trucks have been targeted in similar manner along Imphal-Jiri Road as well as in Senapati district.
