Imphal, November 13 2009:
Demanding declaration of the results of the DPC held in 1997 for recruitment of 400 primary teachers, the 1997 Primary Teacher DPC Faced Candidates' Association has announced its decision of calling a 24-hour bandh along the National highways 39 and 53 with effect from midnight of November 15 .
Addressing a press conference in this connection at Manipur Press Club here today, Association secretary Atom Surchandra observed that the decision to call the bandh has been adopted as the Government has failed to declare the results of the DPC inspite of repeated appeals and petitions.
Instead of declaring the results of the DPC conducted in 1997, the Government is trying to recruit 1400 primary teachers newly.
Over and above this, the Cabinet has approved recruitment of another 134 primary teachers.
This is victimisation of the candidates who have already faced the DPC in 1997, Surchandra lamented.
In case the Government fails to consider the demand even after calling of the bandh, the Association would take recourse to various other intense agitation, he warned.
