A two-day Peer Educators' training programme organised by Rapid Intervention and Care (RIAC) Project of Integrated Women and Children Development Centre under the sponsorship of Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) concluded at the training hall of IWCDC, Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai here today.
The main objective of the training programme was to educate the Intravenous Drug Users (IDUs) on safe and safer behaviour and make them to understand that educating their peer is for their own safety as well as for sustainability of the programme.
Topics like objective of RIAC, various services of RIAC, basic facts of HIV/AIDS, referral and networking, care and support, the role of Peer Educators in the intervention and prevention of HIV/AIDS, etc were discussed in the training conducted with RIAC-IWCDC staff and District AIDS Officer, Imphal West Dr RK Laksana as resource persons.
