Two thieves involved in snatching petrol from road-side vendors, mobile phone handsets from commuters and lifting vehicles have been apprehended by personnel of NAB (Narcotics Affairs and Border) .
The two thieves have been identified as Thokchom Ranbir alias Bau (23) s/o Kesho of Singjamei Thokchom Leikai and Mayengbam Vivas (22) s/o Biren of Yumnam Leikai Ngakraba Leirak.
It is reported that they undertook their criminal activities by partially covering their faces and posing as having arms.
They were apprehended by a team of NAB led by one Ranjit from Naoremthong Khumanthem Leikai at about 6 pm yesterday.
One Hero Honda CBZ (chassis no 02A46C01082, engine no 02A-41M00908), two mobile handsets (nokia model no 1600 and vodafone model no 125) were recovered from their possession.
The duo have been handed over to Lamphel police for further questioning.
According to police sources, they lifted the motor-cycle (CBZ) from a Thabal Chongba venue at Akampat.
The two mobile phone handsets were stolen from a PCO located at Malom.
Ranbir alias Bau and Vivas were also involved in snatching petrol bottles from road-side vendors.
They also used to deal in intoxicating drugs, added the sources.
