Imphal, July 07 2014:
For the first time in Manipur, a handbook which is entirely based on driving and maintenance has been launched at Imphal Press Club today.
The handbook, authored by Loitonjam Dinakumar Singh, is titled Basic Driving and Maintenance: A Driver's Handbook.
The book is aimed at providing necessary instructions for drivers.
The event was graced by Works and Transport Minister Kh Ratankumar as president and Writer Columnist and Critic Buddha Chingtham, Sangai Express as chief guest.
In his speech, Dinakumar said that his main objective was to spread awareness (particularly to the youth) on the proper ways of driving.
Driving necessitates proper instructions and guidance.
In Manipur, however, such system is not practised till date.
This, the author said, is the major cause for traffic-jams in the State.
Speaking on the event, chief guest Buddha Chingtham said that there has been a mass increase of motor vehicles in the State.
Unfortunately however, none seem to consider the rules of driving.
At such state, added the chief guest, the timely publication of such book is worthy of appreciation.
The book is divided into four sections technical, non-technical, driving and maintenance section.
The book is published under the Global e-text New Delhi's regional language section of ruby press and co., New Delhi.
The programme was also attended by Global e-text Newdelhi's representative Ngangom Anand.
