Imphal West District Police have reportedly apprehended two RPF/PLA cadres who were directly involved targeting migrant workers at different parts of Imphal last month.
Talking to mediapersons today, SDPO (Imphal West) Ningthoujam Madhunimai Singh said that the arrested duo were involved in the incident of shooting Rajendra Rajak (40), a Dhobi at Sega Road Takhellambam Leikai on September 16 .
The SDPO informed that following specific information, a team led by him arrested Kharibam Amarjit alias Nanao alias Bung (24) s/o late Thoiba of Sagolband Nepra Menjor Leikai from a farm at Pangei Mamang Heingang Chingkhong at around 5.30 am today.
During interrogation, Amarjit has admitted to his involvement in the shooting of Rajendra.
Amarjit further disclosed that he went along with another person and shot at Rajendra at the instruction of a self-styled sergeant major of PLA identified as Korou of Thongju Part-II, who was subsequently arrested by a team of Imphal West District Police Commandos from Kakwa Naorem Leikai on September 17 afternoon.
At the instance of Amarjit, another RPF/PLA cadre identified as Meisnam Jugindro alias Tomal (47) s/o late Abhiram was arrested from his Sagolband Thingom Leikai residence at around 7.30 am today.
The pistol used in shooting Dhobi Rajendra was kept not only hidden at the residence of Jugindro after the crime but he also dropped Amarjit to his place.
On top of this, Jugindro extends logistic support to the outfit in connection with targeting migrant workers and other activities of RPF/PLA, the SDPO said, adding that both the arrested duo were also involved in opening fire on Sandip Sahu (16) at Keishamthong Hodam Leirak on the night of September 9.Sandip, however, escaped unhurt.
Further investigation is go to ascertain their involvement in other related incidents of targeting migrant workers, the police officer added.
