Lamka, November 24:
Government servants, or officials, as they would rather prefer to be call has avoided the rural community, especially the interior hamlets to an upsetting extend that the MHJU team while visiting Thanlon sub-divisional hqs have met just one medical representative among the hordes of offices located there.
Before the communal clash of 1997 wrecked the community, Thanlon with atleast 400 houses was one of the most vibrant rural communities in the entire district.
Today the hilltop sub-divisional hqtrs is trying its bit to restore the bygone glory.
However a good majority of the Government servants, except the Indian Army, still shuns this rural community but draws their wages for working here without any hindrance.
Being a sub-divisional hqtrs, vital Government Departments under SDO were stationed here, but the SDO himself has appeared just a couple of times since resuming the post before the State Assembly election.
According to a highly place sources the divisional officer had appeared once during the election and once again on Independence Day, but lodged just for once.
The newly constructed SDO building and quarter stands clear on the peak of the hilltop, but a closer look reveals that all forms of animals have instead exploited the building with their excreta spreading all over and its approach path covered by wild grasses.
Thanlon is not the only community eluded; a good majority of the forty odd villages surveyed by the media team has witnessed similar tales.
Even at the handful of places where the PHC or educational institution is said to be functioning, the real employees were represented by the locals.
