A 30 year old young man was beaten to death by the local people of Kakwa Laiphrakpam Leikai for allegedly stealing a motor bike last evening.The young man identified as Moirangthem Akhomcha alias Ibomcha of Khangabok Cherapur was handed over to Singjamei Police by the volunteers of Social Young Club and was taken to the RIMS Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries last night.
Akhomcha was a married man having three kids, one boy and two girls.
He operated a cycle workshop at Keishampat Junction to earn his livelihood.
His wife is said to be at Guwahati for medical treatment.
He was beaten up by the infuriated local people in connection with the theft of a motor bike (Yamaha RX-100 MN-1H-0641) belonging to a person who runs a workshop near MU Gate.The bereaved family members, however, refuted the charge of the local people.
They said that although Akhomcha had a cycle workshop he did not even know how to drive a bike.
Post mortem has been conducted, but the family members refused to take it back saying that they would be making certain demands to the Chief Minister.
