Imphal, March 28 2011:
Observing that Minister N Biren has been maintaining a stoic silence after his son Ajay had murdered I Roger, BJP Manipur Pradesh has demanded Chief Minister O Ibobi to spell out the punishment that must be awarded to the murderers.
Speaking to media persons at his office today, BJP Manipur Pradesh president Sh Shantikumar, while noting that N Ajay and his gang shot dead Irom Roger (19) s/o I Lokendro of Wangkhei Angom Leikai with a licensed gun on March 20 at Ghari, demanded to know what kind of punishment would be awarded to the murderers.
While the Chief Minister has been maintaining a stoic silence over the outrageous murder, his Cabinet Minister N Biren has been clinging to his ministerial berth rather than resigning on moral ground.
Minister Biren should resign if he has any concern for the people, Shantikumar said.
Questioning under what conditions and circumstances gun licences were issued to sons of Ministers and MLAs, the BJP president asked if gun licences were issued to all sons of Ministers and MLAs.
Observing that this disturbing trend has caused widespread alarm in the society, Shantikumar recalled about the incident where Advocate General Koteshwar was shot inside a car in which he was travelling together with Ministers K Ranjit and DD Thaisii.
Even as bullets were found inside a luggage of a Minister's wife at Imphal airport, the Government and the authority has hushed up the matter without disclosing the name of the particular Minister, the BJP president decried.
Though the situation has deteriorated to such an alarming situation, the Government is misguiding the public.
Stating that people know who are the neo super-rich in Manipur, Shantikumar demanded that the SPF Ministers should declare their assets.
He went on to demand that Chief Minister O Ibobi should give up his seat as his Cabinet Minister in charge of IFCD and YAS N Biren has refused to resign from the Ministry even after his son has murdered an innocent youth.
