Major General CA Krishnan, IGAR (South) today handed over an ambulance to the Centre for Mental Hygiene, Changangei Uchekon at a ceremony held at the Centre organised by 12 Maratha Light Infantry.
Brigadier Gyajendra Prashad of 9 Sector AR and CO of the 12 Maratha Light Infantry, A Singh were also present at the handing over ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, CA Krishnan acknowledged the 30 year service of the mental health centre by providing counseling and support to the mentally challenged.
The Centte, besides being involved in the existence halfway home, has been running an institute for the mentally retarded and two drug de-addictions-cum rehabilitation centres located at Imphal and Churachandpur.
The IGAR (South) appreciated the work being done by the Centre in the field of mental Hygiene and drug de-addiction.
The ambulance has been dedicated to the centre to strengthen the social commitment of Assam Rifles towards the people of Manipur, he said.
The IG also complemented 12 Maratha Light Infantry for adopting the Centre exhorting all those present to work in close coordination and improve upon the levels of comfort and counseling to the affected people of the state.
