Imphal, April 15 2009:
Pledges to unify different factions of the KCP organisation, distribution of eatables, donations to children homes and obituaries to departed members of the armed outfit marked the 29th raising day celebration of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) held at different locations on April 14 .
In separate statements issued to the press, un-named individuals have been accused of not only attempting to dilute the organisation through commissioning of nefarious activities but also amassing personal wealth misusing the KCP organisation.
According to a statement issued KCP's fund Raiser cum Publicity Secretary in-charge Pamen Meitei conveyed of outfit's general secretary Khamba Luwangcha greeting the people on the occasion of the annicersary celebration.
moreover, Pamen meitei informed of overseeing distribution of food items and cloths including blankets to inmates of five destitute homes spread across the State.
In another statement, KCP general secretary KK Mangang reportedly distributed sweets at a children home in Imphal East district.
meanwhile, N Santosh Meetei of 'working committee, general secretary group, KCP expressing gratitude to the people for the successful celebration of the armed group's anniversary reiterated that without cooperation of the masses the ongoing movement would fall apart.
Remembering departed leaders and cadres of the KCP and observance of two minutes silence for peaceful rest of the departed souls were the other highlight of the raising day celebration, added Santosh.
Asserting that citizens of every nation aspire to live in a society free from all forms of subjugation and the same is being felt in manipur, Santosh said loss of sovereignty of the erstwhile independent manipur could be viewed from three perspectives.
The first, according to the KCP functionary, was the invasion of manipur by the Burmese that led to seven years devastation/desertation followed by the existence under the British.
The other period of subjugation of manipur had been the forcible annexation of Manipur to the Union of India, said Santosh who pointed to continuous imposition of AFSPA 1958 as one of many manifestation of the Government of India denying people of manipur the basic right to life.
The State police commandos also came under strong criticism of the KCP group with Santosh holding personnel of police commando units responsible for a number of human rights abuse in addition to scheming fratricidal killings.
Asserting that present turmoil and chaos in manipur arising out of extra-judicial killings of even innocent civilians is due to high-handedness and inhumane conduct of the police commandos, General Secretary N Santosh cautioned that in case there is no cessation of atrocities perpetrated against the people, KCP would be contrained to target family members of police commandos.
