Imphal, November 13 2009:
Annoyed at the manner of frisking by the Special Security Group of the Central Industrial Security Forces deployed for the protection of the Chief Minister's office cum residential bungalow, MPCC president Gaikhangam who had gone to meet Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh reportedly returned without meet the Chief Minister.
According to information received by the press, at the invitation of the Chief Minister, Gaikhangam had gone to meet the former at his bungalow late evening today to discuss matters related to the birth anniversary observance function of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to be held at Congress Bhavan yesterday.
When Gaikhangam, who is also the MLA of Nungba Assembly Constituency approached the second gate of the bungalow, the CISF personnel on duty not only subjected him to thorough frisking but also asked him to leave behind his belt, rings on his fingers and mobile phone.
The conduct of the security personnel annoyed Gaikhangam so much so that he returned without meeting the Chief Minister.
The humiliating experience that Gaikhangam, who is not only the party president but also a member of CLP, had gone through in front of all others inside the bungalow was the failure of the Chief Minister to give necessary instruction to the security personnel on duty, the source contended.
However, according to another source, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and MPCC president Gaikhangam held confidential meeting from 4 pm to 5 pm to discuss the prevailing political situation in the State.
During the hour-long meeting, it is believed that the two leaders put their heads together over the issue of reshuffling the Ministry, which has long been delayed, thereby causing discontentment among some of the party MLAs.
