Two activists of the banned KYKL were arrested today from different locations by personnel of Imphal West commando and 19 Assam Rifles.
In the first instance, one Charoibam Boynao Singh alias amarjit alias Wangba (28) s/o Ch Inakhunba Singh of Lalambung Makhong Naosekpam Leikai was apprehended by the police commandos during frisking and checking duty at Lamphel Sanakeithel at around 4.30 pm.
Boynao is said to be involved in extortion activities from truck owners, according to a SP (IW) statement.
The other KYKL activist identified as Lokhai (35) of Moirangpurel was nabbed by the AR troopers during an early morning swoop at Moirangpurel.
A statement issued by PRO IGAR (S) informed of recovering four rounds of AK-47 from the arrest cadre said to be involved in extortion activities in the area.
Lokhai has been handed over to Lamlai PS.
On the other hand, personnel of Imphal East District Police and Commandos jointly carried out a cordon and search operation at New Lambulane early morning today and arrested a member of the proscribed Kuki National Army (KNA).
According to a statement issued by SP of Imphal East District L Kailun, the arrested KNA activist has been identified as Thangin alias Hegin Misao (20) s/o late Zamkhohao Misao of Aigiyang village but presently staying at New Checkon, New Lambulane.
On preliminary interrogation, Thangin disclosed that he joined KNA in April 2005 and now working under the command of one Kamtinmang of finance department of the outfit and collected money from general public, Govt employees, businessmen, etc for raising party fund.
