Following the indefinite economic blockade by the All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) and the Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) on one hand and the chakka bandh by the transporters on the other, existing stock of life saving drugs and Oxygen in the State is reportedly running out fast.
According to sources, the existing stock of life saving drugs and Oxygen in the State would last only around a week at the maximum.
Medical Superintendent of RIMS, Prof Y Mohen has informed that the life saving drugs and Oxygen in the premier medical institute is also running out fast and may not last more than one week.
Birmani, who runs a chemist ship, said the stock of life saving drugs in most of the chemist ships is also depleting.
If curfew is lifted, then the existing stock will run out very fast, he said, while conveying that the transporters have also turned down booking for transportation of the medicines following the chakka bandh.
The two tribal student bodies imposed their indefinite economic blockade along the NH-39 and NH-53 which passed through the State for the last few days while the transporters launched the chakka bandh from August 5 .
