Demanding revocation of a Government order issued by Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh on October 30, Manipur Forward Youth Front (MAFYF) has warned of taking recourse to various intense form of agitation if the demand is not met.
Addressing a press conference in connection with the order issued by the Chief Secretary at the office of MAFYF this afternoon, president of the Front Sapamcha Kangleipal contended that the said order was against all existing democratic norms.
While pointing out that the order issued by the Chief Secretary on October 30 last stated that the premises/facilities of the State and Central Governments including those financially assisted ones should not be allowed to used a platform against the Government, Kangleipal said it is the constitutional rights and duty of every citizen in the democratic country to air their grievances against the undoing of the Government.
So the order issued by the Chief Secretary was not just in violation of the democratic rights of the people but it was also an attempt to suppress democracy itself, he said.
Kangleipal informed that MAFYF is prepared to take up necessary action including legal assistance against the order.
The Government should be held responsible for any eventuality if the said order is not revoked immediately, he added, while warning of taking recourse to various intense form of agitation if the Government fails to revoke the said order immediately.
