Imphal, June 04 2009:
The Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur (ZSUM) has demanded the transfer of Rajendra Singh, the SDO of Tamei sub-division of the Tamenglong district in Manipur alleging the SDO has never attended the office since his appointment just prior to the 15th Lok Sabha elections held in April this year.
Should the concerns fail in this, the student body have resolved to indefinitely picket the SDO office.
The ZSUM on Wednesday asserted this was giving hard time to the students whose results have just been declared and were waiting to collect certificates and documents like the ST and income certificates which is issued by the SDO adding students have limited time before admissions for higher studies.
While calling upon the SDO to immediately attend his office regularly, the student body also demanded the transfer of the SDO at the earliest possible and asserted it would picket the SDO's office should the concerned fail in meeting their demands.
It further alleged Birendra Singh, the executive engineer of PWD of the district has failed to attend the office for the last three months and questioned the EE over his act of escaping his duty.
Expressing serious concern over the lag of administrative function in Tamenglong district, the ZSUM has appealed all administrators of the district to regularly attend to their duties for the betterment of the district.
It also appealed all the UGs operating in the district to co-operate with the district officers while taking up developmental works.
The ZSUM asserted that it plans to picket sub-divisions offices and schools of the district and institutions that were neglecting their duties.
