Kohima, May 03:
Senior BJP MLA and parliamentary secretary, MC Konyak expressed the hope that his party would win at least 15 seats in the coming crucial Nagaland general elections and said their party was maintaining the "spirit of alliance" till now.
Talking to NEPS here, the parliamentary secretary said the DAN government came into being on the basis of the Common Minimum Program, CMP.
"This CMP has been still going on smoothly," he stated.
Asked whether the major NPF would come around to their terms of seat sharing for the upcoming general elections in the state, Konyak stated it was up to the "big brother".
Reacting to the opposition charges that the DAN government was the "weakest government" the state ever had, the former state BJP chief denied the charges saying it was rather "strongest government" doing so much developments in such a shortest time comparing to the 10 years of Congress regime.
In fact, no chief minister in the past had done so such developments especial for the backward districts of the state like DAN chief minister Neiphiu Rio in the last four years rule.
Konyak also dismissed the opposition Congress' allegation that there was total breakdown of law and order in the state.
The Congress should first study the prevailing law and order situations in the Congress-ruled states in the region before criticizing state government.
Supporting the state government's demand to have status quo on the controversial Delimitation Act 2002, the parliamentary secretary said there was already proposal for increase of seats from the present 60 to 80.Naturally, the delimitation should be done with the increase of the seats as proposed, so as to have equitable distribution of seats among tribal populations, he pointed out.
The current confusion only cropped up because of the unrealistic 2001 census figures, he added.
