Imphal, March 02 2009:
A total of 113 kilolitres of kerosene allotted to Ukhrul district for the month of February have been misappropriated by officials before reaching the agents, asserted MLA Wungnaoshang Keishing of Phungyar A/C.Speaking to reporters in the Opposition room of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Wungnaoshang said that 113 Kl of kerosene allotted to Ukhrul district for the month of February under Public Distribution System were lifted by officials in 12 tankers.
However, the same quantity of SK oil has not been delivered to the agents and the public although the month of February is already over.
Conveying that he has received complaints against the fraudulent practice, the Phungyar MLA sought attention of the FCS Minister to probe the matter and to take up necessary actions against the erring officials.
The MLA also hailed the FCS Minister for impounding 3000 litres of SK Oil from one of his (Wungnaoshang Keishing) worker who was reportedly trying to sell away the kerosene even though it was allotted to him.
The MLA said that this kerosene oil was meant for distribution to impoverished peoples of Phungyar A/C. Following appeals to the Chief Secretary to check 'disappearance'of PDS rice and kerosene on the way, at least PDS rice have reached the sub-divisional headquarters, he noted while appealing to the Chief Secretary to ensure that SK oil too reach sub-divisional headquarters.
