Police arrest two persons

Imphal, July 31 2014:
Two persons including the president of Churachandpur to Imphal Taxi Owners Society (CITOS) who allegedly tried to use Assam Rifles personnel as mercenary in pulling up the secretary of the Joint Action Committee Tidim Road Bus Owners Association have been arrested by police.
Speaking to media persons at Kwakeithel this evening, JAC Tiddim Road Bus Owners' Association president Abujam Babu said that CITOS president Lunkholal Haokip (48) s/o late Phangkholal of Tuibuong, Churachandpur called JAC secretary A Dhanabir Sharma on mobile phone at around 9 pm yesterday.
At that time, Dhanabir was having his dinner at his Keishampat Leimajam Leikai home.
Dhanabir responded the call and fixed an appointment at Keishampat junction.
Dhanabir also informed Imphal police station as Lunkholal's attitude was suspicious.
Lunkholal came to Keishampat junction with IRB personnel David Lalminthang (48) s/o Thangsiam of New Lamka and one CID personnel in a Hyundai i-20 car (MN-01S/0957) .
Two armed AR personnel wearing full uniform were seen seated in the rear seat of the car.
Moreover, another team of AR personnel was seen coming up behind the car.
A police team halted both the car and the gypsy.
Later all the AR personnel were freed but Lunkholal and David were detained, Babu said.
He further alleged that Lunkholal was involved in issuing forged permits to winger vans for operation on Imphal-Churachandpur route after taking Rs 50,000 to Rs 80,000 per permit.
