The Guard Commander of the NSCN (K), Zeliangrong region, Maj Francis has claimed that his men today shot dead a cadre and injured one of the rival NSCN (IM) during an encounter which took place at Longmai (Noney) bazar today afternoon, reports our Jiri correspondent.
According to Maj Francis, the IM conspired with the 16 Assam Rifles, which led to the death Captainm Jakaiah and Sgt Salem on October 27.He also warned the IM group of serious repercussions for their crimes.
Speaking to the press, the publicity in charge of NSCN (K), Zeliangrong region, Loveson said that the IM faction disturbed the peace programme launched by them in collusion with the Indian Army.
The two officers of the NSCN (K) were shot dead at point blank range, he said and added that since the 16 Assam Rifles have violated the truce pact they should be held responsible for any untoward incidents in the future.
NNN reports from Kohima : A suspected NSCN cadre was shot dead this afternoon at Daklane area in Kohima on the road leading to New Market at around 2.20 pm by suspected rival NSCN cadres.
But it is not certain as yet who have killed whom.
The victim, identified as Khruketo (Ato), aged 26, of Viswema village, was reportedly apprehended from Mohonkhola area and shot dead at Daklane by armed persons.
He was shot dead at point blank range after being blindfolded and his body dumped at the spot.
The victim was shot twice on the head.
Police have recovered two empty cases of 9mm pistol from the site though residents of the area, however, claimed to have heard at least four shots fired.
NSCN (K) sources though did not claim responsibility for the killing and said that the victim is Regional Security Informer (Angami Region) under the Central Administrative Officer (CAO) of the Angami Region of the NSCN (IM) and that he had been appointed only in February this year.
However, NSCN (IM) sources denied that the victim was either one of their cadres or informers and claimed that this is only a ploy to malign the image of the organization.
The corpse is yet to be claimed by family and relatives.
A case has been registered at the North Police Station and investigation has been launched.
