Governor Gurbachan Jagat has greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of Sjibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba, the New Year's Day according to Manipuri calendar.
"At the advent of New Year, we should resolve to focus to march forward, correcting mistakes of the past and keeping our focus on where we want to see Manipur in future", the Governor said in his message.
He further exuded that the New Year will bring peace, prosperity and happiness to all the people of the State.
In his message, Chief Minister O Ibobi expressed hope that the advent of another New Year may enable the people to muster renewed strength and confidence to ensure that Manipur becomes an oasis of peace and that the bonds of friendship, brotherhood and co-existence amongst all sections of the society irrespective of caste, creed, language and religion are strengthened.
Extending best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba, MPCC president Gaikhangam wished that the new year may herald an era of peaceful coexistence and may dispel any sense of insecurity.
Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya prayed that the new year may bring peace, mutual love and progress in Manipur.
Greeting the people on Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba, MPP president Dr L Chandramani wished that the new year may bring peace and love among all communities of Manipur.
GOC 3 Corps Lt Gen RK Loomba, GOC 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen Shakti Gurung and all ranks of 57 Mountain Division have also extended their greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba.
In their message, they prayed that this festival may bring peace, joy and prosperity to the people of Manipur.
In his greeting, IG AR (S) Maj Gen AK Choudhary hoped that this festival may herald an era of peace, progress and prosperity in the region and enhance the spirit of unity, cohesiveness and brother-hood.
The MPP Minority Cell wished that the new year may bring an end to all forms of violence and that Manipur may stride towards progress.
Thangso Baite, nominated as Congress (I) candidate for the 15th Lok Sabha elections, wished the people of Manipur a very happy and prosperous new year.
