Imphal, February 25 2009:
The late SDO of Kasom Khullen, Dr Th Kishan, his driver A Rajen and Mandal Y Token and three other employees, including a peon and two Village Level Workers were abducted from Ukhrul district headquarters on February 13 and their mutilated bodies were found at Taphou Kuki village in Senapati district on February 17. The question now is how the six persons were abducted and three of them were found bludgeoned to death, while another three were left unharmed.
Even as the State Government has started a probe into the case ( We will leave out the CBI at the moment), we at The Sangai Express have been investigating the matter and we present to our readers, the little that we have stumbled upon.
1.As Dr Kishan and his five staff drove out from the office of the Ukhrul DC, six men in a black coloured Bolero blocked their way and took them away (This happened on February 13).
2.Some occupants of the Bolero alighted and then took over the Gypsy of the SDO and then drove it towards Siroy.
The Bolero followed behind.
The SDO and his captors stayed for two nights (Feb 13 and 14) at Lamdang, a village located between Siroy and Ukhrul.
3.From Langdang the six captives including the SDO were divided into two groups, with three travelling in the Bolero (The three Tangkhul employees, who were not killed in the Bolero and the other three including the SDO in the Gypsy).
4.The vehicle carrying the SDO and his men and the Bolero carrying the three other captives may have been taken along different routes.
5.The Bolero used by the others has been recovered but the details are still to be worked out vis-a-vis the involvement in the case.
6.Though Dr Kishan and his two subordinates were taken to Senapati district at Taphou Kuki village, the Bolero carrying the other three were taken from village to village.
7.The abandoned Gypsy found pushed into a drain by a hillock at Mahadev on the Ukhrul-Litan road, is suspected to belong to the late SDO and the number plate was forged.
8.The forged number plate belongs to Senapati district but there is no one using that number, prompting the CSOs of Senapati to raise many questions.
9.The Gypsy was recovered by a patrolling team of the Assam Rifles at Mahadev and it has come to light that the colour of the vehicle was freshly coated.
These are the preliminary findings that the team from The Sangai Express has been able to find out.
If the State agencies have anything contrary to these findings, then they may clarify and explain accordingly.
The public want answers and the answer is awaited.
