Imphal, March 24 2009:
With the BJP National leaders giving their stamp of approval to the recommendations of the State party unit, Loli Adani who contested in the last Lok Sabha election from the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency as a BJP candidate has been announced as the official party candidate for the Outer Parliamentary Constituency this time as well.
The announcement was made during a function attended by party's North East in-charge organisation secretary Chandrasekhar Rao and many veteran party leaders at the Nityapat Chuthek office of the BJP Manipur Pradesh here today.
Speaking at the occasion, Loli Adani pledged to work for restoration of peace and promotion of emotional integration among the people of the State.
Noting that peace is the over riding need in Manipur today, Adani said that in this connection he would try to bring about changes in the existing developmental policies and programmes so as to bridge the developmental gap between the hill and the valley area of the State.
Over and above this, Adani said he would work towards strengthening emotional integration among the people and ushering in overall development of the State.
Earlier, announcing Loli Adani as the official candidate of BJP from the Outer Parliamentary Constituency, Chandrasekhar expressed confidence that the party candidates would merge triumphant in both the Inner and Outer seats.
Chandrasekhar said that MP Mani Charenamei who is posed to be the nearest rival of the BJP in the Outer Parliamentary Constituency, though not a Congress nominee, is someone who is close to Congress and has been fielded after a lobby within the Congress.
However, he had not taken up any developmental works during his term as the elected MP, Chandrasekhar charged.
Launching an attack on the Congress party, the BJP leader said that the ruling Congress led SPF Government in Manipur is anti-people.
The most glaring testimony of this fact is that the Govt has been indirectly supporting some of the UG groups which have entered ceasefire agreement with it by closing its eyes to the atrocities being committed on the people by the armed cadres of these UG groups.
More-over, with the State police forces relentlessly killing innocent people, the Congress party is today akin to a terrorist group, Chandrasekhar further charged.
Stating that BJP would emerge triumphant getting the highest number of votes in the election to the Outer as well as Inner Parliamentary Constituency, he also appealed to the people to vote for BJP in the interest of bringing about developmental change in the State.
As part of the election campaign, member of the National Executive and convenor of Foreign Affairs Cell of the BJP Minority Morcha Nawab Saleem Khan would be arriving at Imphal on a three-day visit and would visit areas inhabited by minority people to understanding their problems.
State Unit party president Dr Haobam Borbabu who was also present reiterated that in the election to the Outer and Inner Parliamentary Constituency on April 16 and April 22 respectively BJP would put up strong fight against the Congress and CPI candidates and defeat them.
Former Chief Minister and veteran party leader RK Dorendra and former Chief Minister W Nipamacha who is going contest from the Inner Parliamentary Constituency as party candidate were also present at the occasion.
