Imphal, April 20 2010:
Eastern Command, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Bikram Singh, accompanied by Mrs Bubbles Singh, President, Regional Family Welfare Organization, Eastern Command, and 3 Corps GOC, Lieutenant General NK Singh, has reviewed the state's security scenario on their two-day visit to the region.
The visiting army officials from Eastern Command and 3 Corps also called on Manipur Governor Gurbachan Jagat at Raj Bhavan Imphal besides meeting the the state Chief Minister, O Ibobi separately at their respective office chambers on Tuesday afternoon.
Earlier the GOC in Chief lauded the efforts of the soldiers in fighting terrorism in the State and asked them to continue with the good work in a professional manner, according to a release of the Public Relations Officer,Assam Rifles.
He also asked the Assam Rifles authority at Mantripukhri to provide all possible assistance to the populace in the true traditions of the Assam Rifles, it added.
The army team arrived at Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) headquarters at Mantripukhuri near here on Monday.
On his arrival, GOC in chief was briefed by Major General C A Krishnan, IG of Assam Rifles on the prevailing security situation in Manipur.
Meanwhile, a PIB (DW) press release informed that the GOC-in-Chief reviewed the security arrangements in the state and was briefed by Major General DS Hooda, GOC 57 Mountain Division at Leimakhong.
The GOC-in-C, Eastern Command lauded the efforts of the soldiers in fighting terrorism in the state and asked them to continue the good work in a professional manner and provide all possible assistance to the populace in the true traditions of the Army and also appreciated the efforts being put by the troops and complimented them for their commitment to help out the people of the state through OP Sadbhavana and various Military Civic Action projects.
He also complemented the 'Red Shield Division' for their efforts in contributing towards peace in the state of Manipur.
