UNC relaxes ban for two months; Breather for railworks

Imphal, February 15 2012:
The United Naga Council (UNC) has temporarily suspended the ban on construction work of Trans Asian Railway line after a two month period ending February 15 .
A release issued by UNC publicity wing informed that the decision for lifting the ban was taken during its presidential council meting held at Tahamzam on February 11 .
It is also informed that the indefinite ban on Seismic Survey of Tamenglong would also be lifted temporarily with effect from the same date.

The ban had been imposed in the protest against the lack of political will by the Government to address the demand for an alternative arrangement for the Nagas of Manipur.
The decision would be reviewed after the installation of a popular Government in the present State of Manipur, added the release.
The ban came after the marathon economic blockade was lifted last year.
