By reading this book we could realize the trends of Manipur literature. The second edition could add supplements. Kshetri Ibomcha, Yengkhom Bihari and Nimai Pukhramba write and define literature, poetry and epic. There are different kinds of poetry, they are 1. Dramatic poetry, 2. Realistic poetry, 3. Idealistic poetry, 4. Didactic poetry and 5. Artistic poetry. To write a poem certain elements are required, they are 1. Emotional Element 2. Intellectual Element 3. Imagination Element and 4. Style Element. Kshetri Munal Singh, Mijao Singh and Mayanglambam Herachandra wrote on drama, novel and One Act Play. Dr. N Tombi, Y Dhananjoy and Larhaham Gojendra contribute their theoretical explanations on short story, essay and radio play. Dr. Huirem Bihari and Ksh. Chaoba write on folk tales and aesthetics. The aforementioned essays are grouped in the first part of the book under the sub-heading Theory. The second part of the book deals with Manipuri literature, its developments and the present position. Prof CD Manihar Singh, writes his minute observation on Manipuri prose. The old and the new forms of Manipuri prose are discussed well. Chaoba, Minaketan, Surendra, Gitachandra and Guno's works are observed by Ch. Manihar. Other contributors in the book are Hoabam Gouradas, Sanakhwa Ibotombi, Nongthombam Biren, Nehakpam Aruna and Lekhak. The new trend in Manipuri poetry is well observed by Shri Lekhak.
