Jugeshwar Waikhwa writes poetry, short stories and novels. He has to his credit 10 books amongst which five are poetry books, 4 are novels and the remaining one is a book of short story. This shows that Jugeshwar hardly writes short story. But I would like to count Jugeshwar among the established Manipuri short story writers. The appealing and striking stories of Jugeshwar are Coolie, Geruwa Machugi Jersey and Kinthakhraba Thamoi. The readers could shed tears of love while reading these stories. Humanity is the main subject of the themes of these stories. The writer inserts a travelogue entitled Thamoi Laina Paklabi. The characteristics of a short story could not be found in Murtisingna Kari Hairi. I would not like to count these two pieces as short stories among other pieces of the book. There is a sense of loneliness in the story Violet Chabun. Forlorn hopes inherited in it. In another story entitled Mongphamda Thiba Nungshiba, a young man called Thambalngou could dig even the grave and take out the dead body of his beloved girl Tharaklei for a last look. Soon he died due to the inhalation of the stale smell of the rotten body. The writer measures the weightiness between humanity and morality in the story entitled Thaba. Igo is a tiny story which reflects a frightening dream of the narrator.
