A travelogue written by Dr Jamni Devi, published by Rai Prabina Brothers in 2000, Price Rs 35/-, page 51. Reviewed by: Konsam Kulladhwaja |
Dr Jamini had already brought out four travelogues. Besides these she had many books in various subjects to her credit. This book has four chapters in which the writer tells us the accounts of her journey to four places i.e Hydrabad, Prasanti Nilayam, Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh) and Tripura. The writer could have got the advantage of travelling abroad while participating in women's welfare programmes. During her visit to Hydrabad she had watched the Birla Temple. This temple of Bishnu is situated on the top of the hillock called Noubat Parbat. The writer could reach Prasanti Nilayam, the home of Shri Satya Saibaba, the god man. Prasanti Nilayam means the place of peace. Beautiful photographs are shown on most of the pages. We could see the landscape of Putapati city, the Sai Baba Hospital and the community hall of Sai Baba. For paying homage to Shri Vengkateshwor Swami the writer reached the top of Tirumalai hills of Tirupati. Shri Vengkateshwor calls the writer so that she could reach the place otherwise it would not be possible for her to visit the temple, believed Dr Jamini. Not only the description of the places the writer tells the historical and the cultural backgrounds to us. How the Manipuris and the Tripuris have close links are written. During the reign of King Khunjaoba (1652-1666) Manipur begins to have business contact with Tripura.
