Mufidun is the first Manipuri Muslim woman who brings out Manipuri book. Unlike other Manipuri Muslim poets Mufidun does not use Arabic or Urdu words in her poems except Thihousi Chengjel. The poetess writes elegy lamenting for late Arambam Samarendra and the passing away of the poet Dr Kamal, There's always a tone of patriotism in Mufidun's poems. She contributes her poetry for Kekrupat, the martyr's site, Sharmila the only woman who strikes for removal of the black laws by fasting about one year. The poetess seems worried about the lost of old and traditional values, lost of our identity and the lost of ancestral aesthetics. She wants unity and integrity which are now threatened by some separatist militants of the hill districts of Manipur. Mufidun's style of writing goes together with the traditional style of Chaoba and Kamal, the great Manipuri romantic poets. |
