BNHS releases pre-publication offer for Butterflies of India by Isaac Kehimkar

Mumbai: 13th June: Majestic yet so fragile, butterflies have attracted us since ages past. They have been the subject of interest for everyone ranging from artists to researchers. People can spend hours with butterflies. Described as the 'Butterfly Man of India', Mr Isaac Kehimkar has spent a part of his life chasing these winged wonders.

After the explicit response to his previous book, 'The Book of Indian Butterflies', he is all set to add yet another feather to his cap with a new book under BNHS Filed Guides - 'Butterflies of India' to be released soon.

Highlights of the book

The book, to be published by Bombay Natural History Society is first of its kind that covers more than 1000 species and subspecies of butterflies with photographs clicked on field. Apart from India, this book covers the butterfly fauna of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar.

"We are in a butterfly paradise with more than 1500 species in India itself. With such diverse habitats ranging from Himalayas to deserts to grasslands, there is so much for a naturalist to explore! Exploring varied places and studying the butterflies there inspired me to write this book," says the author.

With his easy and simple writing style, the author leaves out technical jargons reaching out to amateurs and other butterfly enthusiasts. "It took me more than two years to write this book. This is truly a magnum opus among my work on butterflies. I hope the readers will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it," adds Mr Kehimkar.

Pre-publication offer

The cover price of BNHS Filed Guides – 'Butterflies of India', to be published and released by BNHS, is slated to be Rs 2,200 for India and SAARC countries whereas 50 USD for rest of the world. BNHS presents the readers with an opportunity to book their copies of BNHS Filed Guides – 'Butterflies of India' well before it is published.

Though the cover price is set at Rs 2,200, butterfly enthusiasts can get their copies at Rs 1,800 during the pre-publication offer till July 15, 2016.

The pre-publication offer for foreign enthusiasts is set at 45 USD (shipping by Indian post) while the cover price is 50 USD. The offer excludes shipping charges.
