Thabal movements : A simple scientific study

Thabal chongba at Manipur Bhawan Kolkata celebrating Cheiraoba on April 14 2013 :: Pix - Razkumar Bablu
The idea of this project came when I went to a Thabal Chongba near our locality. I didn't take part in the Thabal because it was my first time and I also didn't have the courage required to ask a girl to hold her hands and join it.
Rather I was looking at the movements of the people and initially, I was struck by the possibility that the movements of people bore a resemblance to some of the collective movements found in nature.
To study my idea about the movements of the movements I collected around 5 videos from youtube and four videos from our personal recordings.
We cleaned up the videos to remove distortion and shaky camera works and converted the movements into a 2 dimensional plane.
According to the videos, the people in the Thabal looked a lot like atoms moving around a gas particles as they moved in the zigzag form and other patterns.
Again, I slowed the videos and reexamined it again and again. I collected images of gas movements and of collective found in nature and compared it with the movements of Thabal.
Then, I came to the conclusion that :
The people in Thabal behaved and moved strikingly similar to the gas particles-meaning that the people in Thabal moved in predictable patterns that is somewhat similar to the movements of gas particles. I also found that the movements of the people is also similar to some of the collective movements found in nature like movements of fish.
