REVIEW OF "SHRI DHAM NABADWIP ONGBI"
Almost all the Hindus must have heard about Shri Dham Nabadwip. It is one of the most sacred places for a Hindu. But you may or may not have heard about Surodoni Ganga which is a part of the river Ganga which flows through Nabadwip. If you want to know more about it than you must read the exciting, enjoyable, passionate and thrilling novel SHRI DHAM NABADWIP ONGBI.
SHRI DHAM NABADWIP ONGBI is written by Sahtiya Akademi awardee writer from Manipur, Shri B.M. Meisanamba. He is an accountant by profession. He is also a poet, dramatist and novelist. He has been adorned with many awards like National Sahitya Akademi award, Manipur Sahitya Akademi award, Yamini Sundar Guha Gold medal, etc. He has written amazing books like EMASI NURABI( for which he was awarded National Sahitya Akademi award), SORARENGI MACHA NUPI (Daughter of Heaven), KANGLA DIARY, NINGTHEM NUPI TRILOGY, etc.
Like other novel of his, SHRI DHAM NABADWIP ONGBI is an adventure as well as an amorous novel. The plot of the novel is about two person Toyai and Phajabi. Toyai is a fugitive who runs away after killing a person. He hides in the deep forest of Surodoni where he gains the wisdom and the status of a Guru. One day while going to take his bath in the Surodoni ganga he meets the amative and attractive Phajabi. Eventually a relationship built between the two. However, they are able to hide their secret relationship from the world. Atlast a twin was born to Phajabi.
This is the story in brief. It is the first part of the trilogy.
Don't be fooled by the simplicity of the plot. There are many things which makes this novel fascinating. First, it contains the history of Surodoni Ganga. The part of Ganga which is known as Surodoni Ganga has been discuss in detail. Not only it deals with Surodoni Ganga, it refers to Ganga as a whole. How the river originates in the mighty Himalaya, where it is joined by its different tributaries in its journey towards the Bay of Bengal and the various names of Ganga as it passes through different countries has been detailed in this novel.
In other words, it is a well researched novel with regard to the river Ganga. Secondly, it narrates the mythological tales of how Ganga came to earth and why it is known as Bhagirathi Ganga. After going through this novel you will remember your grandparents and their lovely stories. Thirdly, the story is set in Nabadwip. It describes in details the topography as well as the beauty of Nabadwip dham. You will surely like to go there. Nabadwip is one of the holy places of Hindu. Fourthly, you will be fascinated by the art of storytelling of the author. He will take you wherever he wants through his words. There are many intriguing twist and turn in the novel. You can't help yourself from enjoying the novel. Fifthly, the novel will attract the young one through the tantalizing relationship between the main actors. But it will also catch the attention of old one through its mythological stories as well as description of Nabadwip.
So, it is a novel which is well written, well research and well conceived. You will simply wonder at the ability of the writer to entertain, excite and tantalize you with his story.
