OFFERED AT KANGLA TO MAHARAJA NARASINGH ON HIS 174th DEATH ANNIVERSARY
A special MK Binodini Devi Centenary edition for students from Imasi Publications of her historical novel Boro Saheb Ongbi Sanatombi was offered to her ancestor Maharaja Narasingh.
The offering along with flowers was made by members of the Sri Sri Govindajiu Jalakeli Pala at Kangla following the observance of his 174th death anniversary.
The observance was organized by State Archaeology, Department of Art and Culture of the Government of Manipur, which was graced by Shri N. Biren Singh, Hon'ble Chief Minister as the Chief Guest and Iningthou Leishemba Sanajaoba, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), as the President.
The Meitei Mayek student edition of the Sahitya Akademi Award winning novel - set with the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891 as its backdrop – is about the love affair of Princess Sanatombi, daughter of Maharaja Surchandra, and Lt. Col. Henry. St. P. Maxwell, the British Political Agent of Manipur.
