Nehginpao Kipgen spoke at US-Myanmar conference in USA

Nehginpao Kipgen, a political scientist and a specialist on Burma/Myanmar, spoke at the U.S.-Myanmar Engagement Conference held in Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) in USA on May 29, 2015.
Dr. Kipgen, who was a panelist during the afternoon session on the theme ‘The Political & Legal Reform Process: Current Status & Future’, emphasized the importance of ethnic minorities in resolving the decades-old political problems in Myanmar. He also said the continued support and cooperation of the international community is necessary for the success of Myanmar’s democratic transition.
The conference was attended by academics, policy makers, religious leaders, and representatives from both governments of the United States and Myanmar. Keynote addresses were given by the 1991 Nobel peace laureate Aung San Suu Kyi (via video) and Kyaw Tin, Myanmar’s ambassador/permanent representative to the United Nations Organization.
