I am a student of Brighter Academy Imphal, reading in Class X standard. Out of curiosity I have made an attempt to make some modification in the modern periodic table so that student like me may have a better understanding of the table.

LEISHANGTHEM PERIODIC TABLE

TABLE:-

My periodic table of elements have 32 groups and 7 periods. Metals appear on the left, non-metals appear on the right and it is separated by metalloids. Group number 3 to 26 are transition elements and group number 1,2 and 27 to 32 are normal or representative elements. Metallic character (electro +ve) increases down the group or as we go from top to bottom, the atomic size also increases.

FOR PERIODS AND GROUPS :-

1st period contains 2 elements, H (1) and He (2). It is called very short period. 2nd period contains 8 elements, Li (3) to Ne (10) – short period. 3rd period contains 8 elements Na(11) to Ar(18)- short period. 4th period contains 18 elements, K(19) to Kr(36) – long period.

5th period contains 18 elements, Rb(37) to Xe(54)- long period. 6th period contains 32 elements, Cs (55) to Ru (86) – very long period. 7th period contains 25 elements till now, starting from Fr(87) out of a possibility of 32 elements.

This period is still incomplete. In periods metallic character decreases as we go from left to right. In groups metallic character increases as we go from top to bottom.

MODIFICATION:-

I put group 1's Hydrogen (H) to group 31 because group 1 is named as "Alkali Metals" but Hydrogen is not metal. Group 1's elements have the tendency to lose 1 electron to attend stable configuration but it is completely opposite to Hydrogen as it is non-metals. It (H) has the tendency of gaining 1 electron like group 31 elements which is also known as ' Halogens '.

I put the series of Lanthanides and Actinides together with the periodic table or inserted in my periodic table, they are called inner-transition elements.

PREDICTION :-

1. The elements of group 31 and period 7 will be non-metal.
2. The elements of group 32 and period 7 will be non-metal.

REQUEST :-

The symbol of Titanium and Thallium is same i.e. Ti. My request is that, can't the symbol of Thallium be written as "T" ?
