Launching Workshop on 'Nutraceutical Properties of Underutilized fruits and Vegetables'

A Launching Workshop on ‘Nutraceutical Properties of Underutilized fruits and Vegetables’ was organized at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre in collaboration with Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), Hyderabad under DBT TWINNING Programme on 20.03.2015.
Dr. K. Kipgen, Director, Dept. of Horticulture and soil conservation, Govt. of Manipur has graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Prof. G. Jiten Sharma, Manipur University as the Guest of Honour.
The programme was presided by the Joint Director of ICAR, Manipur Centre. The President, Chief Guest and Guest of Honour have emphasised the importance of nutraceuticals for the healthy living and potential of nutraceutical rich underutilized fruits and vegetable crops in this region.
Dr. M. R. Sahoo and Dr. Aparna Kuna, organising secretary have focused on the overview of the launching workshop and the future programme to be conducted and the inaugural programme was concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. S. S. Roy. About 50 participants comprising of senior scientists, academicians, researchers from different institutes and specialists form KVKs have participated in the day long launching workshop.
The lead speakers, Dr. H. B. Singh, NEIST, Dr. G. Jiten Singh, MU, Dr. Lokesh Dev, IBSD, Dr. S. S. Roy, Dr. Arati N. and Ms. W. Kabita, ICAR, Dr. Aparna Kuna from PJTSAU have shed more light on the potential of underutilized crops for better life which would greatly benefited for exploring the potentials of nutraceuticals in the state.
