Name: Khumanthem Ninthoinganba Meetei
Father’s Name: Late Khumanthem Manglemba Meetei
Mother’s Name: Khumanthem ongbi Meena Leima
Address: Thangmeiband Khuyathong Polem Leikai
It was a proud moment for Manipur when 8 players were selected from the state to represent India in the Under-17 Football World Cup. But being from a poor state and born in poor families, the players have their bitter side of the story, and Khumanthem Ninthoi is not an exception.
Born in Thangmeiband Khuyathong Polem Leikai, Ninthoinganba is the youngest among the three siblings. His father died from an illness in July this year.
His father used to love football and with the hope of watching his son play in the World Cup he was treated in Guwahati but unfortunately he did not live to watch his son play.
While his mother wished to go to Delhi to give his son blessings for the U-17 World Cup, his mother expressed that she may not be able to give her son blessings personally as they are poor and she might not have the money to visit Delhi
Ninthoinganba Meetei is presently studying in class 12 in Alpha BCI Memorial Academy, Thangmeiband. He used to play Tae-Kwondo from 2006 to 2009 at TTC (Tae-Kwondo Training Centre, Thangmeiband) in Sub-Junior level under the guidance of Chingakham Suzan and won many Gold medals.
He got his first breakthrough in playing football when PHLYO (Peace Human Labour Youth Organisation) club selected him for Under 13 in 2011.
Later, he was selected for state level football tournaments and then represented Manipur in National Championships.
Because of his hard work and skill he was selected for Under 17 FIFA World Cup coaching camp held in Goa to form the Indian team. And fortunately, he was selected to represent India in the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017.
