EHA, New Delhi supported and Sphere India Coordinated Flood Relief Medical Camp conducted at Kakching
The total number of flood affected households at Kakching Municipality was 380 (1326 people) as per the report available with Sphere India, which is a National Coalition of Humanitarian Agencies in India. One month after the flood, five families are still at Kakching Chumnag relief camp and while many flood affected families have reported to have flood related diseases. Therefore, an emergency flood relief medical camp is being conducted at Ibudou Naohal Ahanba Laibung, Kakching of Thoubal District.
A total of 213 patients are consulted with the volunteering service of six medical doctors. Three mostly commonly encountered diseases among the patients are skin diseases, respiratory infection and diarrhea. In addition to free medicines, water cleaning tablets are also provided to the patients.
The medical camp was organized hand in hand by EHA, Dynamic Manipur (DM) and Helping Helps Manipur (H2M) with medicine support from Emmanuel Hospital Association (EHA), New Delhi. The camp was coordinated by Sphere India. The organizers plan to conduct a series of medical camps in the next couple of weeks.
Sphere India is a National Coalition of Humanitarian Agencies in India. The members include key nodal agencies from Govt. of India, UN Agencies, INGOs, NGO Networks and National NGOs. Sphere India facilitates Inter Agency Coordination, Training and Capacity Building, Collaborative Advocacy and Information Knowledge and Learning Management through a collaborative process for Quality & Accountability. EHA, New Delhi is a participating humanitarian organisation member of Sphere India. Recently, Dynamic Manipur has also become a humanitarian organisation member of Sphere India with Helping Hands Manipur as local partner.
